Popcap announces Plants vs. Zombies 2, July 2013 release date.

Plants vs. Zombies is getting it’s much-anticipated sequel this summer under the title, Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time. The teaser trailer comes from YouTube personality, Francis, jumping across to many people such as Xbox’s own Major Nelson.

The game is set to release this July, so if you’re up for some more plants on zombie action, get hyped! I know I am. I loved the original and can’t wait to see what the guys and gals at Popcap have in store.

Here are the three Grand Theft Auto V protagonist trailers rolled into one.

In case you haven’t seen these already, here they are all tied up together nicely for your viewing pleasure.

You start off with Michael, a rich suit who is miserable. He has a side of him that’s stuck aching for the law-breaking life, but he wants to move on because he’s got a family to take care of and he’s not getting any younger.

Then there’s Franklin, a gang banger who also wants to move up in life. The harder he tries to get out of the life he despises, the more he gets pulled in by his past.

Finally, there’s Trevor. A maniacal low-life who has nothing better to do, so he slings drugs and causes chaos. He loves every minute of it and couldn’t be more open about his enjoyment. He seems like he’ll definitely be really fun to play as and interesting to keep an eye on.

Grand Theft Auto V is set to release on September 17th, 2013 for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360. There’s no word on next-gen releases, but Take-Two could be announcing it during their investors meeting later this month.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is out today.

The DLC but non-DLC is out today and is being well received by the press. I’ve only played a mere sample of the game, but it is outrageously bodacious and I love it.

It is only $15 and is does not require Far Cry 3 to play it. It’s a standalone title of it’s own; enjoy.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be out this November.

According to this promo posted found at IGN, the next entry into the Call of Duty series will be out on November 5th, 2013.

This is following the rumors that have been going around the internet all weeks about the next Call of Duty game. It should come as no surprise, seeing as Call of Duty has become an annually releasing series by Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

No official comment on this from Activision yet, but it seems like they are keeping with the “modern shooter” formula.

Oh, and look, exclusive pre-order “bonuses” are keeping strong!

Famed Batman voice actor won’t be returning in Batman: Arkham Origins.

Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman in a plethora of animated series’ and recently in the Arkham games made by Rocksteady, will not be reprising his role in the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins.

Warner Bros. Montreal, the developers of the game, told South Africa’s NAG Magazine that they’re “to use a new younger actor because the game features Batman in his early years.” It’s a good reason to me, seeing as this is the story of a younger Batman bearing the cowl we all know and love. Whereas Kevin Conroy voiced the more matured and seasoned Dark Knight.

It is disappointing he won’t be returning for this outing, seeing as he’s fantastic in the role of the Bat. But I’m more than willing.

Here are some screens to keep you going.image

Batman: Arkham Origins is set to be released on October 25th, 2013 for PS3, PC, Xbox 360, and Wii U.

Batman: Arkham Origins said to include multiplayer by sources.

Over at Kotaku, their sources have reported that the new Batman game to come out of Warner Bros. Montreal will include multiplayer.

They asked Warner Bros. about the claims but they have declined to comment about it.

According to their source, there is at least one multiplayer mode where you either play as a member of Joker’s or Bane’s gang while trying to eliminate Batman or Robin. The villains included are as follows, Killer Croc, Deadshot, Firefly, Black Mask, Deathstroke and possibly Electrocutioner. Each may be customizable as well.

The same tipster that delivered this information to Kotaku also reported about the cover and setting of the game, which turned out to be spot-on. So, while it’s not confirmed, you should be at least a little excited if you like multiplayer.

Homeworld goes to Gearbox Software and Darksiders goes to Nordic Games.

From the ashes of THQ rose the auctioning off of their IPs. You may have heard of the big ones already, like Volition Inc.(Saints Row) and Metro being snagged up by Koch Media(Deep Silver), and SEGA picking up Relic Entertainment(Company of Heroes, Warhammer).

Fans of other series’, such as Darksiders, Homeworld, Red Faction, and maybe even Supreme Commander, worried about the fate of these franchises that they love. Fear not, most of them have also just been bought.

Homeworld found a cushy home in the arms of Gearbox Software, developer of the widely loved Borderlands series and the not-so-loved Aliens: Colonial Marines. Gearbox actually outbid fans for $1.35 million when they tried to purchase the IP and make a crowdsourced sequel. This will likely make it more widely available and have a much larger budget.

Then there’s Nordic Games, known for their work in Sweden on the latest Painkiller games, The Book of Unwritten Tales, and publishing the PC version of Alan Wake. They notified the press today about their purchase of the Darksiders IP. That’s not all though, they snatched quite a few up. Red Faction, MX vs ATV, Destroy All Humans!, Summoner, Supreme Commander, Marvel Super Hero Squad, and more that has not been stated yet for the price of $4.9 million.

Elsewhere, 505 games purchased Drawn to Life for a measly $300,000.

Batman: Arkham Origins’ trailer talks of the story, admiration, and inspiration.

The story of Batman: Arkham Origins in a nutshell is that 8 of the worlds deadliest assassin’s in the Batman universe have joined forces on Christmas Eve to kill the Bat. It sounds like a great pitch, for sure, but this trailer gets into why there’s more to it than that, how they have a lot to live up to.

With Arkham in the name, the safe assumption would be that it tell the origin of either Batman or the Batman we know in Arkham City. But the game’s writer Dooma Wendschuh lets us know that this is not the case, nor does it follow any of the ‘Year One’ storyline. This is simply meant to show Batman’s transition from a guy who is rough around the edges and changes into the dark knight, world’s greatest detective, the Bat that we all know and love.

There were rumors that Rocksteady, the studio behind the previous Arkham games (that have no relation to this one) were working on a Silver Age Batman game. But as was mentioned before, they are not working on this title, instead Warner Bros. Montreal (which was founded to bring this to life) is taking over development this time. This leaves us with the assumption that Rocksteady still might have that Silver Age Bat hiding in the shadows.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be hitting shelves on October 25th, 2013 for PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon coming May 1st.

The expansion to Far Cry 3 sets you up with a new main character that is in a new ’80s-themed world. Blood Dragon is a standalone expansion The only connection to the original game it has is the way it plays; it is a first-person shooter and you are in an open-world.

The cover art is silly, the cutscenes are ripped straight from the 8-bit era, and the art direction looks like it came out of a neon sign store.

The game apparently steps up after the opening to prove why it’s a Far Cry game, with dangerous animals that roam the island, such as laser-firing lizards. But you can also use the beasts to your advantage. By using cybernetic hearts you rip out of your foes, you can control the beasts and use them tactically. Doesn’t that sound great?

I’ll be interested to see how well it performs when it’s released, but right now it looks like an amazingly cheesy, self-referencing, and wild ride that has me excited to get my hands on it.

It’s priced at $15 on Steam right now, so you can expect it to be the same on PS3 and 1200 MSP on Xbox 360.

Also, dinosaurs.
